Happy Martin Luther King Jr day!!! In honor of Dr. King, the Civil Rights movement, the African American community and celebration of cultural diversity we went to the Mississippi neighborhood which used to be an all-Black neighborhood before gentrification. I appreciate the signs of resistance here. The cards have always been stacked against black folks/non-white folks in this country and the fact that we still have a racist MOFO in the white house is a disgrace to the work and legacy of MLK. This is why it’s so important to vote. We need that “shit hole” of a president out. We need to fight for greater diversity!! …
Ok end of speech. In other news we went to the world famous Mississippi Records which has been both releasing and carrying the most amazing records from all over the country and the world. They have recorded or re-pressed blues tunes from the deep south and African music that no one cared to archive in the past. They carry really rare international records. Oh and they only charge $10 for all their original pressings, how cool is that!! I picked out a collection of 60’s Mexican psychedelic tunes and a blues album!
